AMA Art Camp Dates are Dec 20, 23, 26, 27 and Jan 2, 3
The winter holidays are a magical time for kids, and the Albany Museum of Art offers December and January day camps that will allow kids to bring that magic to life through art, games, and festive activities.
The Kids Holiday Workshop dates are Friday, Dec 20; Monday, Dec 23; Thursday, Dec 27; Friday, Dec 27; Thursday, Jan 2, and Friday, Jan 3. Lee County Middle School art teacher Lindsey Tucker will lead the camp for students in K-7th grade.
“With Christmas and New Year’s Day falling on Wednesdays and schools’ winter vacation dates, we had to get a little creative on scheduling these camps,” Albany Museum of Art Director of Education and Public Programming Annie Vanoteghem said. “Parents can sign up their campers for a single day or multiple days.”
Each camp day opens at 9 am and continues until 4 pm, with free early drop-off at 8 am and free late pick-up at 5 pm. Half-day options each day are 9 am-noon or 1-4 pm.
Campers may bring a brown-bag lunch or the AMA will provide lunch for an additional fee.
“Campers’ days will be filled with projects and activities designed to spark their creativity,” Vanoteghem said. “We will explore different art media and have activities including holiday-themed movies, dancing, games, and more.”
The camps are beneficial for parents as well, she said. “Moms and dads have a lot to do right before Christmas and they can sure use a little rest immediately after the holidays,” Vanoteghem said. “These camps bring out all the color and enjoyment to the holiday season, while they keep your child safe and engaged.”
Campers will also be able to enter submissions for the AMA’s annual Christmas card.
“The camper whose artwork is selected will receive a $50 cash prize,” Vanoteghem said. “The art will be used on the cover of the 2025 card with the young artist credited on the card.”
The registration fee for each full-day camp is $40 for Albany Museum of Art donors or $50 for non-donors. Each half-day camp costs $25 for AMA donors or $30 for non-donors.
Parents can find registration links for all camp dates HERE.
A limited number of camp scholarships are available. The link to apply online for a scholarship may also be found on the winter holiday art camp webpage.
