Twenty-one works of art by 15 educators representing seven institutions in South Georgia and North Florida are on exhibition in Educators as Artists. The juried College faculty show is in the Albany Museum of Art’s East Gallery June 27 – Oct 12, 2019.
This past spring, the AMA invited educators at 10 institutions to submit works for the show, which was juried by Hannah Israel, professor of art and gallery director at Columbus State University in Columbus, Ga. Accepted works were submitted by:

- Chalet Comellas Baker, Florida State University;
- Rich Curtis, Thomas University;
- Amy Fleming, Florida State University;
- Lilian Garcia-Roig, Florida State University;
- Donna May Hatcher, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College;
- Christopher Johnson, Andrew College;
- Scott Marini, Albany State University;
- Selena Nawrocki, Valdosta State University;
- Richard Peterman, Valdosta State University;
- Clinton Sleeper, Florida State University;
- Anne Howard Stagg, Florida State University;
- Charles Wells, Georgia Southwestern State University;
- Robert Austin Yorke, Florida State University.
“This iteration of Educators as Artists is exciting because we’ve expanded the breadth of offerings to schools within a two-hour drive of the Albany Museum of Art,” AMA Guest Curator Didi Dunphy said. “That includes Florida State University. We’re very excited to be welcoming the professors and artists from that school, and to have a conversation and dialogue with artists and professors from Albany and the state of Georgia.
“We hope to continue to expand to give an opportunity for these college professors in regard to building their own professional practices while also offering the opportunity to have their work shown in a museum.”
