Holidays in My PJs Party Is the Event of the Season for fest-Dressed Kids
The Saturday before Christmas can be a hectic one for parents, especially those who need to get some last-minute shopping done or who just need a morning break from all of the pre-holiday hoopla. Parents who need that Saturday morning break on Dec 23 can keep their kids entertained at the Holiday in My PJs Party, the fest-dressed kids’ event of the holiday season at the Albany Museum of Art.
“The Holiday in My PJs Party has become an annual tradition at the AMA,” Director of Education and Public Programming Annie Vanoteghem said. “Parents can drop off their child at 10:30 am and enjoy a two-hour break while we create holiday magic filled with art, projects, movies, reindeer games, and a customized waffle bar brunch.”
The cost to attend the party, which is for children in K-5th grade, is $20 for AMA donors or $25 for non-donors.
Those attending don’t need to dress up for the event. “We encourage kids to come in their favorite holiday pajamas, but it’s not required,” Vanoteghem said. “The party is just a fun, festive morning where excited kids can celebrate the holiday season.”
She said one of the most popular things at the party is the waffle bar brunch, where kids get to choose their favorite toppings. “They get to customize their waffles just the way they like them,” she said.
The Holiday in My PJs Party also benefits the community as a fundraiser for the AMA Teen Art Board. Members of the Teen Art Board will be on hand to help ensure the kids attending have an enjoyable experience. The money they raise through the event will go toward funding their community projects for the 2023-24 school year.
“Your kids will have a wonderful time and, at the same time, you will be helping teenagers learn how to become leaders and positive influences on our community,” Vanoteghem said. “That certainly captures the spirit of the season.”
The Holiday in My PJs Party is 10:30 am to 12:30 pm on Saturday, Dec 23 at the Albany Museum of Art, 311 Meadowlark Drive. A secure registration link may be found online HERE.
Vanoteghem said there also are two other events for kids this month at the AMA that may interest parents. Registration has been strong for the museum’s two art camps during the winter holidays at school. The camps are for kids in K-7th grade.
“There are a few spots still open for the Libby Womack Holiday Workshop on Dec 18-22 and the Winter Wonders Holiday Art Camp on Dec 27-29,” she said. “Both camps are 9 am-4 pm with free early drop-off at 8 am and free late pick-up at 5 pm.” Half-day options of 9 am-noon or 1-4 pm also are available for these camps.
The full-day cost for the Libby Womack Holiday Workshop, which is five days, is $200 for AMA donors or $230 for non-donors. The half-day cost is $170 for AMA donors and $200 for non-donors.
The full-day cost for the three-day Winter Wonders Holiday Art Camp is $100 for AMA donors or $130 for non-donors. The half-day cost is $70 for AMA donors or $100 for non-donors.
