“The AMA Spooktacular will be frightfully fun and just the thing to get masked superheroes, princesses, and monsters in a trick-or-treating mood,” Director of Education and Public Programming Annie Vanoteghem said. “Kids will enjoy creative fun, compete for best costumes, and get an early start collecting treats.”

The Spooktacular is ideal for kids ages 3-10. It starts at 3 pm with face painting and a costume contest.

“Prizes will be awarded for the most creative, the spookiest, and the cutest costume,” Vanoteghem said. “We’ll also have a best group costume category for families and kids’ groups. The winners will get special Halloween-themed prizes.”

Kids attending can also get special help for their nighttime trick-or-treating rounds.

“If you need some help with your costume look, members of our Teen Art Board will be here to add finishing touches with spectacularly spectral face paint,” Vanoteghem said.

From 3:30 to 4 pm, AMA staff and Teen Art Board members will help kids unleash their creativity by leading them on a Halloween-themed take-home art project.

“Our young visitors will create spooky masterpieces to take home,” she said. “All materials the kids need will be provided, and our friendly staff and Teen Art Board volunteers will be on hand to offer guidance and assistance.”

The Big Halloween Candy Hunt starts at 4 pm and continues until 5 pm.

“Visitors will embark on a sweet adventure during the indoor candy hunt,” Vanoteghem said. “Kids will search high and low for hidden treats throughout the museum. Make sure to bring a bag or plastic pumpkin for all the candy treasures you’ll uncover!”
