Show Valentine’s Love to that Special Someone and to Local Artists and Businesses
Saturday | February 8 | 10 AM-2 PM | Free Admission Event
Show love to that special someone and to local artists and businesses on Saturday, Feb 8, at the Valentine’s edition of the AMA Art Mart at the Albany Museum of Art.
“It’s the perfect place to find meaningful, heartfelt gifts while supporting local artists and makers,” AMA Director of Education and Public Programming Annie Vanoteghem said. “With the event a week before Valentine’s Day on Feb 14, you couldn’t ask for better timing.”
There is no cost to attend the event, which will take place from 10 am to 2 pm on the museum grounds at 311 Meadowlark Drive, just off Gillionville Road and adjacent to Albany State College’s West Campus. Vendors will move inside the museum if there is inclement weather.
“You will discover unique, locally crafted gifts that will be perfect for your Valentine–or yourself. From beautiful art to one-of-a-kind jewelry and more, there will be something special for everyone on your list,” Vanoteghem said.
There also will be food trucks at the Art Mart. “You can grab lunch or enjoy some tasty treats while you shop,” she added.
The museum is open 10 am-5 pm on Saturdays, so individuals, couples, and families can go inside and take in the five new exhibitions–Michael Jones: Polyphonic, and four exhibitions featuring artwork from the AMA’s permanent collection: Idea Machines; Home; Know, Learn, Wonder, and 20th Century Small Works on Paper. There is no admission cost to visit the AMA.
The indoor AMAzing Space creative play area at the AMA will be open all day. “The kids can have a good time while parents rest up from shopping,” Vanoteghem said. “Our play area engages kids, letting them use their creativity and imagination. It’s a nice break from electronic devices.”
Vanoteghem said spaces are available for vendors and food truck operators. They can register HERE to participate in the Valentine’s Art Mart.
