An exhibition of work by Brian Willmont, an artist based in Brooklyn, N.Y., opened in the Albany Museum of Art’s East Gallery on July 9, 2020. The show continued through Oct 24, 2020.

AMA Guest Curator Didi Dunphy says Willmont investigates beauty with slick and precise directness, creating a hyper-real depiction of patterned decoration. Using the technique of airbrushing, his wallpaper and paintings are lush and handmade, she said.

A native of Boston, Mass., Willmont is an artist and curator who earned his BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art, graduating with High Distinction. In addition to his art practice, Willmont runs Greenpoint Terminal Gallery in Brooklyn.

He has had solo exhibitions at Victori + Mo (New York City), Guerrero Gallery (San Francisco, Calif.), Driscoll Babcock (New York City), Field Projects (New York City), LaMontagne Gallery (Boston, Mass.), and others.

His work has been included in group exhibitions at Asya Geisberg (New York City), Andrew Edlin (New York City), SPRING/BREAK Art Show (New York City), Allouche Gallery (New York City), The Hole (New York City), Mrs. Gallery (Maspeth, N.Y.), Steinsland Berliner (New York), County Gallery (Palm Beach, Fla.), Spring Break (New York City), Frieze (London, England) and others.
