The Albany Museum of Art congratulates Alfreda L. Sheppard on her appointment as U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Albany Division of the Middle District of Georgia. Sheppard, a former president of the Board of Trustees of the Albany Museum of Art, will assume the position on Jan 4, 2025.
”All of us here at the Albany Museum of Art congratulate Alfreda on her new position,” AMA Executive Director Andrew J. Wulf, Ph.D., said. “Alfreda has been an essential part of the AMA Family for many years, as a highly engaged board member, wise and fearless board president, and wonderful friend.”
Sheppard joined the Watson Spence law firm in Albany in 2009 and is a partner in the firm.
Sheppard will conclude her role as a partner at the end of this year. When she begins her eight-year judicial term, she will succeed the Hon. Thomas Q. Langstaff, who is retiring as Magistrate Judge.
Active in numerous community organizations, she served on the AMA Board of Trustees from 2016 to 2022, was president of the Board from 2020 until 2022, and was a member of the Board’s Executive Committee. Sheppard resides in Albany with her husband, Dwight, and their two sons.
“We wish Alfreda all the best in this exciting new chapter of her life and career,” Wulf said. “Undoubtedly, she will shine in this role as she has in every other.”
