Friends of The Ama Garden Tour
May will open in a spectacular fashion with a colorful two-day garden tour of hosted by the Friends of the AMA. The tour is set for Saturday, May 1 and Sunday, May 2.
The event, co-chaired by Hope Campbell of Albany and Patricia Perles of Americus, will include visits to beautiful garden in Americus, Plains and Leesburg on Saturday, and gorgeous gardens in Albany on Sunday. Ticketholders are free to visit the locations in whatever order they choose, and light refreshments will be available at each stop on the tour.
The Saturday tour, which is 11 am-4 pm, starts at the Train Depot in Americus. Participants should arrive between 11 am and noon to pick up a goodie bag and map, and to learn about the people and locations on the first day’s itinerary. The Saturday tour features gardens at the residences of Patricia Perles in Americus and Michael Mallard in Plains, and the Outer Compound at the residence of former President Jimmy Carter.
The Sunday tour, set for 1-4:45 pm, starts with map, goodie bags and information about the day’s tour at the Albany Museum of Art from 1-2 pm. Tourists will visit gardens at the residences of Dr. Jeffrey and Jeannette Hoopes, Nancy Presley, Jay and Nancy Ventulett, and Tim Yates.
The Sunday tour will conclude with a 5-6 pm cocktail hour for Sunday ticketholders in the garden at the residence of Bruce and Hope Campbell in Albany.
Formed last year, Friends of the AMA is a group that is active in fundraising, advocacy and other avenues of supporting the Albany Museum of Art, and the work the museum does in the community and region.

COST: Two-day tickets are $65 for AMA members or $75 for future members. Single-day tickets are $40 for AMA members or $50 for future members.
