Spring Break Art Camp: Color Explosion Registration Is Open
The Camps Are Scheduled for March 31-April 4 and April 7-11 at the Albany Museum of Art
Albany Museum of Art Spring Break Art Camps promise “Color Explosions” for campers in K-5 through 7th grade. Each weeklong camp will be a vibrant, creative adventure for young artists who love to explore the world of color as they unleash creativity.
The camps will be conducted March 31-April 4, and April 7-11. Full-day camp is 9 am-4 pm, and the half-day camp option is 9 am-noon. Free early drop-off starts at 8 am and free late pick-up goes until 5 pm. Registration is open and the registration link can be found HERE.
“From mixing and blending colors to experimenting with different artistic techniques, Color Explosion is about helping kids understand how colors can transform their artwork and bring their imaginations to life,” AMA Director of Education and Public Programming Anni Vanoteghem said.
Each Spring Break Art Camp: Color Explosion week will include highlights of color theory basics, tie-dye creations, rainbow paintings, abstract art exploration, and a collaborative color mural.
“Each day will be packed with hands-on projects that allow campers to experiment, explore, and express their creativity,” Vanoteghem said. “Whether they are painting, drawing, or crafting, they will be using all of the colors in the spectrum to create their works of art. Color Explosion also encourages collaboration and teamwork through group art activities.”
Activities each week also will include visits to the AMA galleries, outdoor and indoor playtime, movies, games, and snacks.
The cost per full-day session is $35 for AMA donors at the Reciprocal level or higher and $40 for Artist Guild donors and non-donors. Each half-day session is $15 for Reciprocal level or higher donors and $20 for Artist Guild donors and non-donors.
A camper can bring a brown-bag lunch, or the AMA will provide lunch for $10 per day. On Fridays, when each camp wraps up, all campers enjoy a free pizza lunch party.
A limited number of scholarships are available. The scholarship application link can be found HERE.
“We have professional artists and art educators who will guide students through the camps, but we also have opportunities for teenagers who would like to help out with the camps,” Vanoteghem said. Teens interested in being camp aides can email her HERE.
“Spring break may seem like a long way off, but it will get here before you know it. We have limited space, so I encourage parents to register their campers early so they don’t miss out on this colorful opportunity to make memories at AMA.”
